5 Luxury Modern Kitchens
Designing a kitchen is one of the biggest challenges when creating a home. Firstly, it is very expensive and secondly it is very difficult to change later on as your tastes evolve, so I tend to create kitchens with an eye to the timeless, so that we get they stay looking fresh and relevant for the longest time, and hence, create the best value.
Here are some of my favorite modern kitchens, I hope you enjoy, please share and comment below.
1.
This kitchen was for a rustic French style farmhouse we were working on. I felt that the more modern clean lines would be a great counterpoint to the stone and raw wood around it. The cabinets are rift sawn oak ( a personal favorite) and slate used as the countertop. I also incorporated some open storage ideas and stainless steel accents.
2.
This design of a modern Asian style home with a coastal vibe required something that was a little more decorative, with granite counters and stone mosaic backsplash. The kitchen has colored polished concrete floors and stained cabinets that create a pared down aesthetic that works with the rest of the house.
3.
For a ranch in the Carmel Valley I wanted to create a kitchen with a modern rustic feel that played off of the board and batten aesthetic that is so common in this style or architecture. With no visible hardware the cabinets provide a tailored backdrop to the room that has handmade ceramic tile backsplash and lighting by Alison Berger.

The goal in this kitchen was to create an almost commercial grade feel but with a softness that would make it appropriate for a regular family who were passionate about food and cooking. I decided on a stained oak cabinet that was edged in stainless steel to create a warm modern feel that was both contemporary and soft at the same time. Stainless steel countertops finished out the look.

This midcentury style Kitchen is in a Gregory Aines house in Altadena. It was designed to fit within the existing contemporary home seamlessly, almost like the original modern kitchen. The teak cabinets are custom made with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances in stainless steel and a polished concrete floor.
