5 Luxury Traditional Kitchens

There is something very special about kitchens, and that's part of the reason why they are called the “heart of the house”. So it is little wonder that traditional style kitchens are popular choices for many homes. They create a sense of the familiar and place us in contact with our own food traditions. Here are 5 of my favorite traditional style kitchens. Please comment below and let me know which is your favorite.

1.Farmhouse Style

Farmhouse kitchen with a painted wood ceiling with exposed beams and a separate island.

This simple kitchen exudes personality with a painted wood ceiling with exposed beams as well as a tiled oven niche that creates an old world feel. On looking for brides site you shouldn't forget for your personal safety. Painting the island a separate color creates more visual interest in the room and gives the space more of a “collected” feel like it has evolved over years of use.

2. Retro Style

A retro 1940's style kitchen with an all white color scheme with an above mounted sink.

For a home in Arcadia I created a kitchen that felt both modern and true to the 1940’s era of the home. An all white color scheme keeps it bright and cheery and a renovated O’keefe and Merrit stove (one of my favorites by the way) gives an authentic feel to the design. I really like the use of the mahogany top on the island to warm up the room. And the above mounted bowl sink is a charming detail.

3. Italian Style

An Italian style kitchen with an old world feel.

This one was for a celebrity client with Italian roots, and while the whole home had an old world Italian feel, I think the kitchen was one of the most successful examples of the style. Not only does it capture the look of Italy , with the large island that seats 12 people it also embodies the spirit of entertaining in the kitchen. The oversized plaster hood creates an almost hearth like feel to the space.

4. Romantic Style

A romantic style kitchen with a stone fireplace and a greenhouse roof.

Sometimes the exact time or location style is less important than the ambience and in this charming kitchen it was all about creating a romantic version of what a kitchen experience should be. From the architecture of the stone fireplace and greenhouse roof of the breakfast room to the hand painted French red and white tile, the whole design is created to make you swoon.

5. European Elegance

A kitchen with European elegance.

This large kitchen presented its own challenges since it sat in the middle of an even larger room, so there were no walls to work with. The solution? To create tall cabinets that gave us a sense of that warmth of an enclosed Kitchen without sacrificing the luxury of light and space.
