5 Contemporary Fireplaces

Fireplaces have served both a functional and decorative purpose throughout the past few centuries. Originally, fireplaces were built into rooms to serve as a heat source. However, around the mid-20thcentury, they evolved into an aesthetic choice that added to the architectural style of the home. Architects and interior designers now seek to feature the fireplace given that they now recognize the value that their presence can contribute to the overall ambience of the room. Below are some of my favorite contemporary fireplaces. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

The swirling marble that extends beyond the dark panel of the fireplace is the cornerstone of this room. If You Think Lonesome Do This Web site -dating choice. The sofas that face one another on each side of the fireplace further emphasizes the unique features of the fireplace. The crystal sconces on either side provide dimension to the flat and glossy wall.

Something that drew me to this image was the stark contrast between the deep black of the fireplace and the cream white of the upper wall. The fireplace is the darkest feature of the room, so it especially stands out. The interesting rectangle shape of it falls in line with the other geometric forms found within the room.

This fireplace is unique in its interaction with the wall. Its shallow inset allows for it to become seamlessly integrated with the foundation of the living room. The edge of the fireplace reaches the top of the black shape that it is placed in. It is easy to see a relationship between the fireplace and the television placed above it because both are made of similar reflective black materials.

5.

A strong and protruding fireplace separates it from the foundation of the wall.

The fifth contemporary fireplace is perhaps most reminiscent of the fireplaces found in more traditional homes. Its strong and protruding exterior separates it from the foundation of the wall. While the frame is thick, the choice of stone is subtle and smooth.
