Creating Rooms that Speak to Their Context: A Pied-a-Terre Design in San Francisco

The project in question was a pied-a-terre, a small apartment typically used as a secondary residence. We were tasked with designing the dining room, and we knew that we wanted to pay homage to the beautiful city in which the apartment was located. After some brainstorming, we settled on the idea of creating a dining room table inspired by the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

To bring this idea to life, we worked with a local craftsman to create a custom dining table made from polished metal and sandblasted glass. The table featured a base that mimicked the bridge's distinctive steel trusses, and the tabletop was finished with a cool sand blasted glass that evoked the ubiquitous fog banks that so often roll in over the bay.

The result was nothing short of stunning. Not only was the table a functional piece of furniture that could seat a group of people comfortably, but it also served as a beautiful and meaningful tribute to San Francisco. It was a perfect example of how we at Cutlerschulze work to create rooms that reflect the location in which they are located, and it was a real pleasure to be able to create something so special for our client.
