15 Favorite Mid Century Style Lamps

Table lamps are a great way to introduce style into a room. They are not only practical (lamp lighting is crucial to making a balanced lighting scheme), but they are also great decorative moments and can do a lot to build on your decor concept.

We all know that mid century style continues to be a hot trend right now so I thought I would share 15 of my favorite lamps in the mid century style. It seems like a lot right? Well, I have broken it down into a few different categories so that the collection makes a little more sense.

Organic

This is one of my favorite groups of lamps. The use of organic forms, inspired by nature is one of my go to elements in modern design. The break with all the harsh geometry is a nice counterpoint and can make a room come to life.

Inspired by Brutalism

Lighting inspired by one of the great modernist architecture movements, these lamps really make a strong statement. I think in a Bedroom they would create a lot of drama in an otherwise restrained and minimalist space.

Sculptural

Just as the lamps in the previous section sought inspiration in architecture, this collection is inspired by great modernist sculptures. Think of the work of the great Henri Moore and his monumental pieces. These lamps are show stoppers and I think are probably best used alone rather than in pairs, so maybe on a side table or even on an entry console where they can make a dramatic statement.

Minimalist

Some of the best design statements are whispered, not shouted across the room. That's where these table lights really come into their own. Pared down and reduced to the most simple of design statements, these elegant choices make great companion pieces, and their height can be just the thing you need to create interest in your room. They are great next to a sofa to provide reading light over your shoulder.

Blade

While the category name may seem a bit of a stretch, this collection is probably some of the most typical mid century feeling choices of them all. The long slender lines, or the thin blades that create a dramatic silhouette are all hallmarks of the period. These lamps represent a moment in time and will certainly help you create that room with swagger that is so emblematic of this time period.
